Keyboarding with bent wrists, resting wrists on the work surface, and having your elbows like wings away from the
body while using keyboard and mouse are a few of the ergonomic risk factors to the above noted areas. Additionally,
typing and/or using a mouse at an incorrect height and angle are frequently-found problems in the office
ergonomic environment.
Wrists should be kept straight and in-line with the forearms while
typing or mousing, not bent up, down, or to the sides.
Consider a split keyboard if you have a broad chest to allow for straight
alignment at keyboard. (See our Keyboard Section)

Adjust height of chair if feasible, to reach goal of typing and mousing with
wrists straight and in-line with the arms. Obtain footrest for support. (See

Consider use of an adjustable keyboard tray with a mouse platform
which will provide proper height adjustment of keyboard and mouse.
This will allow typing and mousing with a straight wrist and forearm.

Resting wrists on the work

Type and mouse on the desk or work surface only if it allows for straight
alignment in the wrist and forearm with no winging of the forearms and elbows
away from the body. Utilize wrist rests for the keyboard and mouse in
